Accusoft.FormSuite5
Installing in Windows 2003

This page is about a known installation issue for FormSuite and its workaround.

If you are running Windows 2003 and connect to the machine through remote desktop (RDP) while installing FormSuite, an error is returned.

In addition to failing to register the help files, a number of other files also fail to register, and the product will not function properly. In addition, FormAssist may crash when launched due to a ‘FileNotFound’ exception.

When you encounter this error, first uninstall FormSuite (this is required). This is not simple, because in this failed installation state, there is not an entry for FormSuite in ‘Add/Remove Programs’. Therefore, follow these guidelines:

  1. You will need Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration disabled, if it is not already disabled.

  2. Open this website: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall.

  3. Click the Run now button. And, then click Run on the resulting File Download – Security Warning dialog.

  4. Click Accept on the Microsoft Fix it License Agreement.

  5. Click Detect problems and apply the fixes for me (Recommended).

  6. Click on the button to indicate the trouble is with Uninstalling.

  7. Select Accusoft FormSuite V4 for .NET from the list.

  8. Click Yes, try uninstall.

  9. Once the program has finished fixing problems, click Next.

  10. Click Yes the problem has been fixed on the next dialog screen.

  11. Click Close.

Once that is done, you should be able to reinstall FormSuite 4, BUT it should be done using a direct connection instead of an RDP.
